What you need to know: This vacation resort is more than the Italian side from the Matterhorn (or Cervino, in Italian). The higher, sunny, snow-sure pistes are laid out more than a valley head – wide runs that all head back down towards the village. The region links up with the pistes of Zermatt at the best, making a massive 350km of runs.
Excellent for: Satisfying Italian food which will likely not break the bank at the mountain restaurants in attractive chalets (attempt the Chalet Etoile), and also lots of great pizza joints, as well as some goodies like the Baita Cretaz restaurant – only accessible by skidoo as soon as the lifts are shut down.
Bonus: Runs all stay broad, gentle plus consistent right to the bottom. And also the village is small sufficient to be able to let some older kids go looking at the shops by themselves.
