Mears signs with RCR?

Fox Sports is now reporting that Casey Mears has reached a deal with RCR: http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/8458982?MSNHPHMA

"Casey Mears will drive the No. 07 Jack Daniels Chevrolet in 2009 and beyond, a source from Richard Childress Racing confirmed late Saturday night."

The article also explains why he will be taking over the 07 and Bowyer will be moving to the 33:

"According to sources familiar with the agreement, General Mills required a driver [for the fourth RCR car they would sponsor] that could contend for a top 12 position in the standings to fill the seat. Clint Bowyer, the current driver of the No. 07 RCR entry, fits such demands."

That almost makes sense. My question is:

How many of you will update your wardrobe, your bedding, your shower curtains, your pajamas, and your die-cast collections – for either Mears or for Bowyer?

Keeping up with all of Mears’ new numbers and sponsors is getting expensive…
;-)
christina c – other sites are still saying that there should be an announcement at bristol. as for bowyer moving to the 33, they are planning on doing a "points-swap" so the points from the 07 this year will go to the 33 – just like penske did with kurt busch and sam hornish, jr. in the off-season.

OMG, I just came on here real quick after watching Phelps get #8 in China, I can see Casey being the JD man, so does this mean that Bowyer in the UPS #33, or will Newman at Smokes new team be in the UPS car. Yes,If I were a Casey Mears fans I’d be happy but this guy changes numbers and sponsors more than some people change underwear.. Good night all.

I’m afraid he’ll be thrown around at RCR or they won’t stay devoted to him, much like Hendrick has done.

Casey has finished top 15 past two years, One in Ganassi equipment, and the other after being a hair out of the top 35 when he won the Coke 600(He flew up the standings like a rocket after that). I have no doubt in my mind if he could get a few years stability with good equipment and a good team that supports him, he’d have a decent shot at making The Chase.

We’ll see how it works. I’m gonna be holding my breath for him the first five races. Especially Daytona.
