My son will be making 2 December 11 and has been in a crib daybed since he was 13 months old ( due to his ability to climb out Now i have faced a ton of issues putting a boy that young in his own room alone at night> So i am aware of all the dangers of the transition except how to get him to not jump on the bed. His daddy’s friend thought it’d be cool to teach him..YEAH RIGHT!! And now when he gets into a room with a big bed it takes him 3-5 min and hes jumping away..HE’s 3’2” so he’s bigger than most kids his age but he also doesn’t talk! He’s got some issuses with his ears and tubes so we are starting to believe his hearing is muffled….How do i teach a child wit theese problems stroongly and from the begining that this is not okay.. It’s hot ad it’s going to hurt you speech’s do not work and using a firm hand hadn’t worked either…His first night is tonight and i am soo worried..
Put a chain lock on the outside of the door. At night put him to bed and say "When you are in bed the door stays open. When you get out the door closes, do you understand?" Then leave, if he gets up. Lock the door but leave the door open so you can communicate. "Tell him if he gets in bed you’ll open the door" When he does, open the door then leave. Continue to do this until he stays in bed. After a couple of days he’ll just stay in bed at bed time.
From crib size daybed to full size bed???!!!?
