My shihtzu is passed the bleeding stage and i noticed that she is humping our bed comforters. she piles it up underneath her and away to go!! I seen her at this and took them away from her twice actually, and i noticed that she had peed on them, both times. is this a normal action? this is her third heat and she never did this before.
a dog still wants to and can breed a few days after the bleeding has stopped. i would recommend getting her spayed. You will both be so much happier. No more messes and no more washing the comforters every day and she is less likely to try to get out of the house to find a mate.
female dog in heat, humping our bed comforters and peeing after, what to do? is this normal?

It’s time she were spayed and then you would not have the problems of heat. If she’s not to be bred (which is by far the best option) then for her own good she should be spayed.

Doesn’t sound that abnormal. Are you sure it is urine? Perhaps a UTI?
The best thing to do is get her spayed. 3-4 MILLION dogs and cats are put to sleep each year because they cannot be placed in homes. Your dog has the potential to have 2 litters of 6-10 puppies per year. I volunteer at a shelter, we don’t need more dogs in this world. Get her spayed and save yourself the headache.

The heat cycle is a long one, and lots of hormonal issues going on. If the bed is the only place she is doing this, then find a way to keep her off the bed. Some of my dogs have a blanket on the floor next to our bed, they arent allowed on the bed. Do you plan on breeding her? If not, then getting her fixed would be the best solution.

Unfortunately it is normal. She is fertile and needs a man like right NOW (in her mind). She’s a teenager with raging hormones and this is what they do.
